STALWART open class pacer Motu Crusader looks to have too much class for his opposition in the Golden Mile at UBET Racing Centre Launceston tonight.
The Zeke Slater-trained gelding is a multiple group race winner while the bulk of his main position tonight are stepping up to this class for the first time.
Motu Crusader has drawn the outside of the second line (10) but given his good early speed it wouldn’t surprise if driver Gareth Rattray sent the 10-year-old scurrying around the field to face the breeze or try for the lead early in the race over 1680 metres.
Motu Crusader won the Elite over 1609m in Hobart in March last year and went on to win the Easter Cup, proving his versatility over sprint and staying distances.
The Golden Mile is race six on the nine-event card tonight.
