IN-FORM mare My Temptation made it two wins in the space of six says when she powered her way to an emphatic win in the Clarence Cup over 1400 metres at Tattersall’s Park in Hobart on Sunday.
With talented apprentice Sigrid Carr in the saddle, the Neil Richardson-trained mare enjoyed a cozy run behind the leaders before being eased off heels to challenge at the top of the straight.
Once Carr had the mare balanced in the straight the lightly raced six-year-old put the end result beyond doubt within a blink off an eye.
My Temptation was coming off a mirror-image performance in Hobart last Tuesday but the way she delivered the knock-out blow to her rivals on Sunday suggests her winning streak may not be over.
“I couldn’t be happier with this mare because she is such a highly strung individual and to back up like she did without having a saddle on her back between runs is testament to her ability,” Richardson said.
“She is not the easiest horse to train but she is thriving on what we are doing with her at home,” he said.
Richardson heaped praise on Carr who has been licensed to ride in races inside two months but she has already moved to the next level of her claiming allowance (4 kg to 3 kg).
“I gave Sigrid instructions and she carried them out to the letter. She is a very talented young rider with a big future ahead of her,” he said.
My Temptation has only started 22 times for six wins with more to come
The mare, by Johannesburg from Granada Miss, is owned by prominent owner Clarrie Johnson and Judy Daly.
It was the first leg of a winning double for Carr who also scored aboard the John Luttrell-trained Pengalas Gee Gee that led all the way to win the Ci Simon benchmark 68 Handicap over 1600 metres.
