THE connections of promising sprinter Hired Gun remain intent on heading the lightly raced five-year-old towards the Newmarket Handicap.
Hired Gun resumed from a spell with an impressive win in a class one handicap in Hobart just over two weeks ago and last Sunday he was even more impressive in wining a class two over 1200m.
However, he went into last Sunday’s race with a lowly rating of 66 and while the handicapper elevated his rating to 70 he might struggle to get into this year’s Newmarket.
Hired Gun’s trainer Michael Voss said the plan is to run the gelding in the Goodwood which is a quality handicap run over 1100m in Hobart on November 6 with the winner offered ballot free entry into the Newmarket. click here .
