Night racing goes into recess

NIGHT racing in Tasmania has been given the stamp of approval by punters who showed their support of the concept with above average turnover on the third and final meeting of the season at The TOTE Racing Centre on May 20.

Only three night meetings could be scheduled this season with winter looming but night racing will be back with a vengeance in September foe what promises to be an exciting spring and summer in Tasmania.

Jockeys have warmed to the concept and while it has been an arduous task for some the acceptance of the concept by riders and trainers in general shows a willingness to support change.

The Tasmanian Turf Club has opted to keep its Thursday timeslot during the winter in an attempt to retain some continuity for local, interstate and overseas investors in the product.
