The curtain comes down on the Ladbrokes Tasmanian Summer of Racing with a combined Harness and Hound race meeting at the Devonport Showgrounds, where 15 races will be staged.

Seven harness races will be staged where in-form mare Nine Diamonds will continue her path to the state’s premier mares, the George Johnson, when she lines up in the Impressprint Pace.

Trainer Ben Yole acknowledges that the George Johnson will be a “throw at the stumps” given the mare’s high national rating.

The Auckland Reactor – Major Love mare resumed from a two and half month break with a dominant win in Hobart on 14 February. She recorded her own last half mile in 57.7s when coming from back in the field over the mile trip and proved too good for Belle Of Brooklyn, who has strengthened that form line by winning since.

The mare then went back to Hobart on 21 February, where she scored an 8.2-metre win over stablemate Earl Jujon after being given a lovely drive by Troy McDonald, who clearly leads the 2021 Tasmanian Drivers Premiership.

Today Nine Diamonds will be having her second start on the Devonport track, with her only start at the venue being five starts ago when fourth, where she lead up the three wide line before racing outside the leader in a 28.7 third quarter, which brought her undone late.

She meets one of the tougher fields this time including the Mark Yole-trained and driven Murry, who comes out of a free for all in Hobart at his last start and Rowley, who has won two of his five starts on the Devonport track.

Today’s harness meeting starts at 17:20 and concludes at 21:06, with the eight-race greyhound card commencing at 15:44.

The harness meeting will be shown on Sky Racing 2, as will the greyhound card, except for races one and three which will be shown on Sky Racing 1, TasracingTV will stream all races.
