LONGFORD thoroughbred trainer Ian Hay has longed to breed a Derby winner and Nissky could be the horse to realise his dream.

At the UBET Racing Centre in Launceston today Nissky (David Pires) scored an emphatic win in an open two-year-old handicap over 1200 metres scoring by five lengths from the favourite Turtles Nest with Gee Gees Jet a further four lengths away third.

Nissky is unbeaten from two starts having scored an equally impressive win on debut in Hobart on a heavy track on May 19.

Hay bred Nissky from his home-bred unraced mare Lavnova (Delago Brom-Jessnicky) and this is her third foal to race.

Nissky is a half-brother to Varian that Hay also bred to be laced in a Tasmanian Derby.
