The Launceston City Council Stakes is the feature event on tonight’s card with track specialist Lika Whisper trained by his owner Brendan Purcell at Brighton the one they have to beat again. A winner of thirteen races since being purchased from NSW he has won $38,000 in stakes in Tasmania. His main opposition will come from Shanlyn Hirdy (Graeme Moate) and Tadmore Dunoon (Ted Medhurst).
With some twenty runners engaged, Exeter trainer Anthony Bullock has 25% of tonight’s runners and deserves a change of luck – he has been struggling this season.
Punters should be able to get off to a good start with the Gary Johnson trained Noni Girl as the one to beat in race one. She has been impressive winning at Hobart and Devonport at her last two starts.
The value bet is Tin Lid in race five. Trained at Invermay by Eileen Thomas, her recent form suggests she should be right in the finish of this race.
