LONGFORD trainer John Blacker is only taking three of his stable tenants to the TOTE Racing Centre in Launceston on Sunday but he is quietly confident of emerging with at least one winner.

Blacker will saddle up his lightly raced two-year-old filly Red Willow in the Alfa 2YO Maiden over 1120 metres (race 3) and Avebury Masse in the Stuyvesant benchmark 68 Handicap over 1620 metres (race 5).

But his best winning chance looks to be North Lad in the final race on the card (8).

North Lad will be having his third run back from a spell and the distance of 1220m is ideal and he will have the services of in-form apprentice Talia Rodder who rode four winners last Sunday.

North Lad also drops back to his own class (4).

Red Willow made her debut last month when fifth behind Tough Kisses beaten about five lengths but the winner and runner-up finished well clear of the rest and she raced greenly on that occasion.

Avebury Masse has been thereabouts of late but Blacker says there have been legitimate excuses at her past two.
