CAMPANIA trainer Chris Crook has made a few trips across Bass Strait in search of securing an interstate win and on Sunday she finally came up trumps.

North Lodge scored an impressive win in a 0-62 Handicap over 2200 metres at Ballarat, much to the delight of his owners who were afforded luxury odds of $28.30.

Crook ventured to Victoria with the gelding owing to the lack of suitable races for the horse on the local calendar.

North Lodge was ridden superbly by Craig Roberston who managed to settle the gelding twice after he began to pull hard and then he made a snap decision to take off 800 metres from home and that proved to be the winning move.
