PROMINENT thoroughbred owner Joe O’Neill has had a lot of success with the progeny of well-bred mare Red Centre that has produced smart sprinter-miler Too Many Reds and recent winner Not Another Red.
At Tapeta Park in Devonport today One More Red, the latest of Red Centre’s progeny, made an auspicious debut on the synthetic surface over 1000 metres.
With in-form jockey David Pires in the saddle. One More Red settled last in the small field of four and was still at the tail and being hard ridden when they turned for home.
But the Charlie Goggin and Luella Meaburn-trained filly knuckled down to her task in the home straight and went on to score comfortably from Mon Chou Ala Creme and Miss Elsa.
One More Red went into the race with only one trial under her belt which was a third to stablemates Stir Up and the unraced Hoop.
One More Red is by Trotamondo, while her well-performed half-siblings are by Magic Albert.
