SPREYTON trainer Vicki Rhind is more confident about her lightly raced three-year-old Our Monashee developing into a stayer after the gelding scored an emphatic all-the-way win in the Len Dixon Memorial Maiden/Class 1 Handicap over 1650 metres at Spreyton Park today.

Our Monashee jumped straight to the front and led his rivals a merry chase in an evenly run race and went on to score from Royal Beluga with Unbroken Spirit a close-up third.

It was Our Monashee’s first try beyond 1400 metres but his fitness and desire proved to be telling factors in the second win of his career.

The three-year-old was to be ridden by leading jockey Brendon McCoull but when he notified stewards he would be unable to make it to the rack due to illness, Rhind was quick to snap up the services of Kim Moore who rides Our Monashee is most of his trackwork.
