WELL bred four-year-old Bianforgetful scored an overdue win in a 3YO and Upwards Maiden over 1400 metres at The TOTE Racing Centre in Launceston last night.
‘The Dean Wells-trained gelding settled three-back the fence and was in that position travelling in his comfort zone to the home turn where apprentice Bulent Muchu urged his charge to push up along the rails.
The gelding joined the leaders with consummate ease and the gelded son of Bianconi then burst clear and went on to win by 5-1/2 lengths.
Bianforgetful scored from the Terry Evans-trained Carbon County that trailed with Fiftyfourknots third and just ahead of From The Bronx.
“This win was definitely overdue,” Wells said.
“There’s no doubt he should have won his maiden some time ago but he has been plagued by bad barrier draws and bad luck in running,” he said.
Bianforgetful was originally trained by Darren Kenny who has gone back to working full-time at his bakery at Spreyton so he offered the horse to Wells.
“Darren (Kenny) asked me if I wanted to train the horse so I said yes and it’s all worked out well,” Wells said.
Bianforgetful is likely to have his next start in a class one over 1650 metres on his home track at Devonport on Sunday week.
