TASMANIA’S newest training combination of Michael Voss and Chris Crook began their partnership in the best way possible at Tattersall’s Park on Sunday with the duo recording their first winner with the stables very first runner.
Free Shout (Tough Speed – Montalcino) with Brendan McCoull aboard, settled midfield during the run before making his move 600 metres from home.
Free Shout was taken to the outside by McCoull and proved too strong with the four-year-old gelding scoring impressively by a length to claim his second victory over the 2,100 metres.
The gelding recently broke his maiden status two runs ago in Hobart over the same distance and Voss believes the stayer has a bright future.
“He is a really good horse that is going to go a long way”, Voss said.
“He is a dead-set stayer that will eventually be an Open Handicap horse”.
Crook and Voss began their partnership only two weeks prior and already have 25 horses in work. Voss spent seven years with leading trainer Charlie Goggin before joining Crook at her Campania stables.
