PATIENCE is a virtue that must always be applied to owning a racehorse but restaurateurs Don and Imelda Cameron have taken the adage to a new level.

Over three years ago Tangerine Queen suffered knee injuries as an early three-year-old that looked likely to end her racing career.

But the owners were prepared to give her time to recover and almost 3-1/2 years later she delivered the goods with an all-the-way win in Launceston.

At The TOTE Racing Centre yesterday Tangerine Queen gave her rivals a galloping lesson in the Yeltour 3YO and upwards Maiden over 1200 metres.

The now six-year-old mare is prepared at Devonport by Mark Ganderton and she had good form leading up to the race having notched minor placings at two of her three previous outings.

It looked a winnable race for the daughter of Tough Speed and with Daniel Ganderton in the saddle she delivered the goods, scoring by almost a length from the highly promising La Belle Moi with Leigh John the same margin away third ahead of Sentry Duty.

Listen to what owner Don Cameron had to say about Tangerine Queen.
