LIGHTLY raced five-year-old Showing The Faith could develop into a handy middle distance performer given his effort to win the Veolia Maiden/Class 1 Handicap over 1600 metres at Tattersall’s Park in Hobart on Sunday.
Showing The Faith (Eddie Brennen) has been a model of consistency this preparation with this latest win his second from four tries and he was placed at his other two outings.
Brennen had Showing The Faith handily placed midrace despite having to start from a reasonably wide draw (gate seven of 11).
The gelded son of Arena-Leap Of Faith) claimed the leaders in the straight but was clearly headed by Hello Baby Doll about 80 metres from the line.
But Paul’s gelding refused to lie down and fought back to defeat Hello Baby Doll by a half-length.
