WELL BRED galloper Peace Keeper looks set for a bright future given the way he delivered the knockout blow to his rivals in a 2YO and Upwards Maiden Plate over 1000 metres at Devonport today.
The Leanne and Clinton Gaffney-trained four-year-old was having his second start this time in and delivered on the promise he showed first-up when an eye-catching third to the highly promising Kentucky Bound on the Devonport synthetic two weeks ago.
Peace Keeper was ridden by Brendon McCoull who allowed the gelded son Savoire Vivre to settle third and one-off with cover while the speedy Lanilew powered across from the outside gate to lead with Armagonnagettem (Victor Wong) content to race outside of the leader to the home turn.
Armagonnagettem forged to the lead half-way up the home straight but he had no answer to Peace Keeper’s powerful finish.
Leanne Gaffney is confident Peace Keeper has a bright future.
