STAR Tasmanian stayer Dream Pedlar will give Troy Blacker the biggest thrill of his training career if he can emerge triumphant in the $225,000 AAMI Launceston Cup at The TOTE Racing Centre at Mowbray on Wednesday.
Winning his home town cup would be the ultimate for Blacker who has tasted success at the top level interstate but is yet to capture one of Tasmania’s richest staying events.
Dream Pedlar was favourite to win the AAMI Hobart Cup last Sunday week but the gelding stalled about 600 metres from home before running on strongly to finish fifth behind Bid Spotter.
Blacker watched his stable star closely during his track workout this morning (Monday) after which he declared Dream Pedlar ready to run the race of his life.
Blacker also will saddle up Dream Pedlar’s half-brother Dream Flyer in the $100,000 weight-for-age George Adams Plate over 1600m.
Dream Flyer has an imposing record on the Launceston circuit and after an encouraging effort at his first try under weight-for-age conditions in the Thomas Lyons in Hobart, he could be ready to make a name for himself in weight-for-age ranks.
Dream Flyer finished fourth to Conquering in the Thomas Lyons which was an excellent effort, given it was his first test against the best weight-for-age performers in Tasmania.
