WELL bred mare Peggyichi almost falls into the under achiever category at team Brunton’s Seven Mile Beach stables given her win at Tattersall’s Park last Sunday was only her second from 18 outings.

But her co-trainer Scott Brunton has a soft spot for the four-year-old mare and that was evident during a post-race interview.

This latest win was full of merit and one that gave connections some reason to be optimistic about her future.

With premier jockey Brendon McCoull in the saddle, Peggyichi powered her way to an impressive win in a maiden/class one over 2100m on a heavy track at what was her first attempt at the distance.

Peggyichi (Fusaichi Pegasus-Thakawa) was only a $3000 buy at a Magic Millions Yearling sale interstate so her stake earnings of $27,000 from her 18 starts, derived from two wins ands five minor placings, suggests she has paid her way.
