ROWELLA trainer Terry Penny has made a habit of snaring the quinella in feature races with members of his star litter (Collide-Ricky’s Angel) in the past six months and he was at it again in the Angus Evans Memorial (Devonport Cup Consolation) over 452 metres at the Devonport Showground today.
Penny’s smart bitch Clyde’s Angel outgunned her litter brother Penny’s Angel to give the litter a clean sweep of the feature races on the 10-event card.
Clyde’s Angel’s litter brother Rewind won the Group 3 Devonport Cup for what was a unique double and a record that may never be broken.
Clyde’s Angel began brilliantly from box one and she set a sizzling pace with splits of 8.00s and 12.76s and she went on to clock an overall time of 25.41s which was a personal best for the talented bitch.
Penny’s Angel settled third and ran on well to edge out Mojito to give his trainer the quinella.
Terry and Betty penny moved to Tasmania a few years ago and when they arrived Terry admits the dogs he had in his kennel struggled to get out of their own way.
“It was a bit embarrassing because our dogs spent more time running last and second last than being placed but the along came this liter and it al changed,” Penny said.
