GREYHOUND breeder Terry Penny was confident a litter he bred from his former Tasmanian Oaks winner Miss Roman Nose would make their mark once they reached the racetrack.
That prediction has been realised in the form of all four pups that have so far hit the racetrack in the care of top trainer Ted Medhurst.
Miss Stylist (Barcia Bale-Miss Roman Nose) is the latest from the litter to win with her effort to emerge triumphant in a juvenile event over 461 metres at Tattersall’s Park in Hobart tonight worthy of an entry into the black book.
She began well from box eight but wasn’t quite able to cross to the fence and she was left on a limb when Shearer’s Blow (4) and Krogen Express (5) hunted up to keep her posted three-wide to the first turn.
Miss Stylist stumbled nearing the home turn as Shearer’s Blow skipped clear of Krogen Express.
But Miss Stylist dug deep over the final 80 metres to run the leaders down and she hit the line over a length clear of her litter brother Local View that flashed home along the rails to edge Shearer’s Blow out of second place.
It was Miss Stylist’s third start and while her winning time was not special (26.45) she is destined to win more races.
Local View also was having his third start and should his box manners improve he is not far away from winning his juvenile.
The best so far of the litter that ended up with Medhurst is Keune that is unbeaten from two starts with his latest win at Devonport last Tuesday winning by almost five lengths and he ran the 452 metres in a slick 25.34 which was outstanding foe his first run on the track.
Keune won by over 12 lengths on debut in Hobart and he broke 26 seconds that night.
Retail Chart is the other Medhurst-trained member of the litter and he won at his second start in Hobart.
Penny kept three from the litter and two of those Katey Roman and Penny’s Roman are in the care of top trainer Paul Hili and are expected to be racing in about a month.
