TALENTED young greyhound Prescribe will get the chance to live up to his trainer’s expectations when he tackles the Launceston club’s Breeders Classic final next Monday night.

Prescribe was touted by his trainer Ted Medhurst as potentially the best of an exceptional litter (St Pierre-Wongawilli Wala) early in his career.

In Launceston on Monday night Prescribe  powered his way to an impressive win in a Breeders Classic semi-final at The TOTE Racing Centre.

Prescribe made it to the semi-final stage with a second in his qualifying heat which followed two handy efforts at Wentworth Park in Sydney.

He scampered over the 515 metres in a slick 29.73 to be clearly the fastest of the four semi-final winners, scoring comfortably from Winklee Tip.

The Anthony Bullock-trained Posh Fire could not have been more impressive in winning his semi-final.

Posh Fire began well from box four to settle in the lead at the first turn and then proceeded to lead his rivals a merry chase as he skipped clear in the home straight to easily defeat Demi Cali from the Medhurst kennel.

Medhurst clinched his third finalists when Hey Franklin ran down tearaway leader Priority Punter that had a four-length break heading down the back stretch.

Hey Franklin moved alongside Priority Punter in the home straight and went on to win by about five lengths.

It was Hey Franklin’s second start suggesting he has plenty of improvement to come.

The Paul Hili-trained Misty Fiord clinched his final berth with an impressive win in her semi-final.

Misty Fiord began well from box one but not as well as Howzat Lizzie that flew the lids wearing the check vest.

Howzat Lizzie led clearly down the back stretch but in the home straight Misty Fiord retained the rail and proved too strong over the concluding stages.

However her time was the slowest (30.15) of the four semi-final winners.

Prescribe will start from box three in the final and that should be good enough for him to start favourite from his kennel mates Hey Franklin (1) and Demi Cali (2).
