THE meeting at Tattersall’s Park on Sunday promises to be one of the best this season in terms of attendance.

A huge crowd is expected to attend the meeting that is “Think Pink Day”.

Where: Tasmanian Racing Club, Tattersall’s Park, Elwick Race Course, Glenorchy,

When: Sunday 30 May 2010 (luncheon fundraising event – commencing 11.30am ) racing commences 10.45 am

Purpose: Raising awareness of breast cancer and raising funds for the National Breast Cancer Foundation

What is on: As featured as part of the Lumina Winter of Festivals, this 10 race annual event, now in its third year, is very much part of the Hobart racing calendar.  Featuring a luncheon, MC- Judy Benson, Guest Speaker – Melanie Milburne – best-selling author from Harlequin Mills and Boon, with silent and live auctions by Quenton McDonald,  door prizes, prizes for best dressed lass, lad, couple and best headwear categories judged by George Self and a team of mystery judges, major raffle, and stud fee auctions, the day is again proving to be popular – Luncheon tickets are sold out due to a capacity crowd booking early for this popular event, but all are welcome to attend the day and enjoy the racing at the members and public bars on course.

Fashions on the Field: George Self of George Self Property has thrown his support behind the next major fashion and racing event on the calendar at Tattersall’s Park, Think Pink Race Day,  in a bid to see a resurgence of the ‘best dressed’ category for men at the races here in Hobart.

George is an ardent follower of fashion and was particularly vocal regarding his disappointment of the demise of the best dressed category for males at the recent Aami Hobart Cup.

The fashion stakes are now firmly back on the racing agenda (courtesy of Cadbury, Cue and Ci Simon) with brilliant prizes for best dressed lads,  lasses, best dressed couples, and those sporting great headwear at the upcoming Think Pink Race Day.  George will have the honour of being a judge at the event, and the event coordinators are encouraging attendees to make the effort to dress the part for this race day.

The public are encouraged to also get behind the  “Go the Pink Silks”  initiative whereby one jockey in each race will be wearing the National Breast Cancer Foundation racing silks and attendees are encouraged to pledge to make a donation to the NBCF for each race where the NBCF pink silks prove to be a winning omen for the jockey.

Exclusive Tasplates entitled “GGS” will be auctioned at the event, as will a share in a syndicated race horse, stallion stud fees, and general items including sporting mementos.
