FORMER West Australian greyhound Rattle Gun was rewarded for his consistency when he led all the way to win the WHK Classic final over 452 metres at the Devonport Showground.
The Greg Homan-trained dog produced his customary good box manners to lead and once on the lure he was never headed and went on to score by over a length from Seductive Miss and Brumby Bomber.
Rattle Gun was bred in WA where he raced for a year before being sent to Homan as a last ditch effort to realise his potential.
Since arriving in Homan’s kennels he won seven from 14 starts as well as four minor placings, making him very much a welcome addition to the Tasmanian trainer’s kennel.
Race favourite Bergermeister ($1.60) was expected to win with authority but he missed the start badly and copped two slid checks when trying to improve heading to the top turn that ended his chances and he finished last.
Rattle Gun is raced by the trainer’s wife Elizabeth Homan.
