TASMANIA’S leading reinsman Gareth Rattray is free to drive in Sunday night’s opening of the V75 Tasmanian Summer Harness Carnival after the Tasmanian racing Appeals Board upheld his appeal against an eight-meeting suspension.
Rattray was charged and suspended by stewards who alleged he failed to take all reasonable and permissible measures to allow his charge Lifttherunrate to finish in the best possible position in a race in Hobart on November 23.
Rattray presented a strong case at the appeal hearing in Launceston on December 1 and no doubt had he delivered such a strong case at the initial inquiry after the race in Hobart he may not have incurred the initial penalty.
The TRAB reserved its decision at the hearing and released the findings today (Thursday December 10).
Rattray has some top drives at Devonport on Sunday night including star four-year-old Babyitsu that will contest the $20,000 Collins Realty Gold Label.
Rattray has been in sensational form of late with a personal best five winners from six drives
