Katey Roman for Loira’s Paul Hili looms as a major threat in the second race at Devonport today. This Barcia Bale – Miss Roman Nose pup has been given plenty of time after her first start second here in early June and by all accounts she could be something very special according to breeder Terry Penny. Mind you she will have to be with the likes of Veetee Gun in the race who remains unbeaten after two starts for Mick Stringer. The quinella certainly looms as the safe option with Celtic Kid and Capetown Jinx for the multiples.
First starter Buckle Up Beneau (R3) for Leith’s Gary Johnson has been trialling well and against this field of inexperienced youngsters looks a chance to get his first win on the board. The son of Barcia Bale jumps from four but should have the early speed to lead.
Real Good (R6) for Dunalley’s Shayne Bond has been racing well although his form line shows a seventh and a fifth in his last two, however this son of Fabregas had plenty of excuses and back on his favourite track can get back to the winners list.
