PROMISING young dog Rear Window delivered a replica performance to his Heat win last week to take out the O’Driscoll Coaches Grade Five series final over 461 metres at Tattersall’s Park in Hobart last night (Thursday).

Rear Window stepped brilliantly from the inside box and once chasing hard in the lure he extended his lead at every bend and went on to score by a length from Leica Comet with Dark Gladiator a closing third but almost three lengths astern.

The race favourite Wild Cindy ($2.45) was only fairly away from box five and was put out of business nearing the top turn when she was checked severely.

However her price eased courtesy of the weight of money for Rear Window that was backed in to start the second elect at $2.90).

The Keith Nichols-trained dog was having only his ninth start with this his fifth win.

“He is a promising dog that could go all the way,” Nichols said.

Rear Window has good box manners and that is going to give him an edge when he gets up in grade.

With five wins and two minor placings from only nine starts he is one of the better performed sprinters in the state and he should progress to the lower grades quickly.

Rear Window is owned by his Victorian breeder Connie Sofra who has been sending dogs to Nichols for many years and with much success.

He made his Tasmanian debut in Hobart late last year with a third behind the talented Varcoe and a week later he ran last in a juvenile won by the highly promising Alonnah.

He suffered a minor injury in that race so Nichols treated him and freshened him for his next start in Hobart on November 7 and he delivered the goods scoring by almost six lengths from Kawasaki Rose.

Rear Window is entered for Devonport next Tuesday.
