TALENTED three-year-old Gee Gee Red Prince could be Melbourne bound following his impressive win in the $30,000 Carbine Club 3YO Plate over 1100 metres at UBET Park Hobart on Friday.

The Stuart Gandy-trained gelded son of Wordsmith delivered a workmanlike performance to score from the fast-finishing Nadaam with the filly Jazzy’s Choice an eye-catching third.

“I would like to take this horse to Melbourne because he is a very good sprinter and he is tough,” Gandy said.

“After his next assignment in the 3YO Classic over 1200m in Launceston there’s nothing for him here in Tassie,” he said.

The Carbine Club was targeted for Gee Gee Red Prince after he won the 3YO Vase in Launceston at the end of November defeating Gee Gees Top Notch and I’m Wesley over 1100m.

“Red Prince has been very competitive in whatever we’ve put him in this season but this (Carbine Club) is his best effort so far.”
