WELL bred three-year-old filly Red Willow is expected to develop into a handy sprinter-miler according to father and daughter training combination of Ken and Tanya Hanson.

Red Willow scored an impressive win at only her second try for her new trainers at The TOTE Racing Centre in Launceston last night.

With in-form jockey Anthony Darmanin aboard, the Savoire Vivre-Arapeho filly produced a powerful finishing burst to score from the well-backed Markov and Saumer in the Eric Hutchinson Lyons 3YO and Upward Maiden over 1420m.

Red Willow was formerly trained at Longford by John Blacker who relocated to Victoria late last year and the filly was one of many that had to find new homes.

But as Red Willow is owned by Fred and Charlotte West, two of Ken Hanson’s closest friends, it was an easy transition for both owners and horse.

Hanson is confident there are more wins in store for Red Willow.
