The feature race on the eight-event card tonight is the My Sir Duke Pace which is a discretionary handicap over 2090 metres in which last-start winner Resurgent Spirit is expected to start favourite.
Resurgent Spirit resumed from a spell with an impressive win in the Albert Pace (2090m) in Hobart two weeks ago.
It was only a small field but the Roger Whitmore-trained gelding won despite looking in need of the run.
Resurgent Spirit was a star two and three-year-old and he continued to produce outstanding performances last season.
He has drawn the outside of the front line (7) tonight so if he steps away cleanly driver James Austin will no doubt have a look for the lead.
The form horse in the race is All I Can Be that has a good record from a standing start but will need to be on his best behaviour starting off 20 metres.
The back marker Jukebox Music is off 30 metres so he too will have to produce good manners to ensure he is a winning chance while Vande Velde, that resumes from a spell, Rajah Wealth (1) and Ciskei (4) loom as each-way hopes.
