Gary Johnson looks to play a strong hand in the seventh event in Devonport on Tuesday afternoon with Buckle Up Rhonan and Leprechaun Dance each well supported in betting.
Contesting the Ulverstone Pet Food Stake (452m) for grade three chasers, prolific winning sprinter Buckle Up Rhonan will exit box one while Leprechaun Dance has drawn box four.
Holding favouritism for the race is the Anthony Bullock-trained Tah Matt at $2.75 from box seven, while Buckle Up Rhonan is quoted at $3 and Leprechaun Dance at $4.40.
On 16 June, Buckle Up Rhonan secured his 17th race win with a 26.21 Devonport success while Leprechaun Dance goes into the race fresh off a slick 16.17 Launceston 278m sprint win on 22 June.
Leprechaun Dance, a daughter of High Earner and Leprechaun Chloe, has been in the money at 10 of her 13 Launceston appearances and looks a fantastic chance of leading up Tuesday’s 452m assignment and giving supporters a great run for their money.
And with the benefit of box one Buckle Up Rhonan looks poised for yet another forward showing, the son of Buckle Up Wes proving to be a grand performer for Gary Johnson throughout his 91-start career.
With eight races up for decision on Tuesday, one of the better bets on the program looms in race six where the Butch Deverell-trained Inner Circle looks poised for a forward showing.
Sure to enjoy the wide box six draw and vacant box to his inside, Inner Circle returned to racing with a sizzling 16.10 Launceston sprint win on 22 June and at $2.45 for Tuesday’s event looks set to claim a fifth career win.
His hulking 34 kilo frame is sure to be tested though by Anthony Bullock’s Tah Rosie which when racing in Victoria recently landed back-to-back wins at Geelong and Horsham in strong fashion.
The first event on Tuesday gets away at 12:49.
