CONSISTENT mare Roselands broke through for an overdue win when she outgunned a handy field in a class two handicap over 1400 metres under lights at Mowbray on Thursday night.
With Eddie Brennan in the saddle, Roselands produced a barnstorming finish to defeat race leader Digger’s Sunrise by 1-1/2 lengths with the fast-finishing Blossom Lady only a head astern.
The Dianne Ray-Luttrell-trained mare had been placed at her two previous starts, of which one was at the end of her last preparation.
Brennan has formed a good relationship with the horse and Ray-Luttrell said she was pleased with this latest result.
Digger’s Sunrise showed good early speed and had no trouble leading while Brennan had his charge settled just better than midfield and turning for home he had the mare poised to pounce.
