Dilston based trainer Pat Ryan boxed four runners in Monday night’s Launceston Veterinary Group Tasmanian Breeders Classic Final, and amazingly they were the first four across the line, although not in the order that most punters were expecting.
Ava Wine ($16.00) was given the third best chance in the market of Ryan’s four runners, but after stepping slowly from the seven box the son of Sh Avatar x See Blue’s Girl avoided trouble exiting the straight the first time and eventually rounded up the field to defeat easing favourite Savage Victor ($2.60) by two lengths who jumped from the red.

The fastest qualifier from the heats, Kintyre trained by Debbie Cannan was heavily backed from $3.50 into $2.90 very late in the piece, but after being checked early he was never a winning chance.
Speaking before the race, Ryan gave his two outside runners, Splotched and Ava Wine little chance, but that prediction showed just how unpredictable the racing game can be.
“My two out wide, Splotched and Ava Wine, have buckleys of getting into the race from out there. Ava Wine will hold his line from the seven, but I just can’t see him getting across with so much speed inside” said the trainer.
Rounding out the first four for Ryan which incredibly are all from the same litter, were Handsome Prince ($5.00) and Splotched ($31.00) with the winning time for Ava Wine of 29.81 second only to Amy Cora’s slick 29.48 of the 515-metre races run on the night.
