FORTHSIDE harness trainer Maurice Jarman is hoping his lease on well bred mare Sanreos will be renewed in the coming weeks.
Jarman leased the mare from high-profile owner-breeder Mick Maxfield and since he has had Sanreos in his care the five-year-old has won five races and been placed four times from about 25 starts for about $24,000 in stakes.
In Launceston on Sunday night she led and despite being softened up in front she withstood serious challenges in the home straight to score an impressive win in the JR Mint Stakes over 2200 metres.
Sanreos (Astreos-Sandelera) hit the line almost two metres clear of Denvers Boy with Thabela Brioso over four metres astern.
Jarman was delighted with the win and declared the mare one of the toughest he’s trained but he was a little concerned about being able to keep her in the stable.
