THE ill-fated and popular Tasmanian stallion Savoire Vivre is Tasmania’s leading sire for season 2013-14.
He was announced as the winner at the annual awards night at Wrest Point Hotel Casino last Friday night.
Savoire Vivre’s progeny won 65 races and produced winners in three states – Tasmania, NSW and Victoria.
The 47 wins in Tasmania were produced by 21 individual winners.
The star performer was his three-year-old filly Iggimacool that won five times including the Listed Tasmanian Oaks and her stablemate Sh’bourne Spirit also won five races.
A testament to the impact Savoire Vivre had on Tasmania’s breeding industry was highlighted on Launceston Cup day this year where Sav sired four winners on the 10-event card including two feature race wins.
Savoire Vivre passed away at Armidale Stud last year and his loss left a gaping hole to fill in the state’s stallion ranks.
