In Brief

  • Twisted Reality an early firmer in betting.
  • Intriguing race despite the small field.
  • Ned Isakoff looks a class above in race eight.

A mouthwatering middle distance clash is slated for Launceston tonight with quality performers Wynburn Gold (2), Twisted Reality (3) and Freya The Slayer (6) set to slug it out in race three over 600 metres.

In what promises to be the race of the night, little is separating the classy trio in betting, with Twisted Reality marginally holding favouritism at $2.40 ahead of Wynburn Gold ($3.60) and Freya The Slayer ($3.30).

The Ben Englund-trained Wynburn Gold has been brilliant winning her past two appearances over the Devonport 580 metres before then scoring at Launceston last Monday night in a smart 35.21.

Winner at seven of her 24 starts, the daughter of Dyna Double One has been in dynamic form in recent weeks but elevates in opposition tonight when she tackles two budding stars of the middle distance ranks.

The first of those is the Blake Pursell-trained Twisted Reality, the classy son of Spring Gun making his middle distance debut on the back of a slashing 25.34 Devonport victory over 452 metres last week.

Loaded with ability, the six-time race winner has recorded slick time at the track over the 515 metres and is expected to be right in the thick of things for tonight’s hotly contested affair.

The other main chance in tonight’s intriguing middle distance contest is Ted Medhurst’s hugely talented chaser Freya The Slayer, the daughter of My Bro Fabio, a sister to Raging Ralston and Stanley Gordon, primed for her 600 metre debut.

Winner at eight of her 19 starts, the immense talent is capable of reeling off blistering run home sections and suited by the small field tonight, looks set to run a huge race for connections.

While he’s set to start tomato sauce odds, the best bet on tonight’s program is the ideally drawn Ned Isakoff (box 1) in race eight over 515 metres.

Pitch-forked into the 3/4th grade event, Ned Isakoff, a winner at 11 of his 27 starts, is quoted at $1.34 but is expected to make light work of the last leg of the quaddie for trainer Pat Ryan.
