SCULL MURPHY was one of the best and most popular greyhounds to come out of South Australia in the past decade and it looks like some of his progeny could follow in their sire’s footsteps.
In Launceston on Monday night a pup by Scull Murphy from Painted Shaza bred by Mick Stringer scored an impressive win over the short course (298m) to make it two wins from her only three starts.
Domenic’s Joanne showed good early speed to share the lead with the flying Din’s Choice and the pair matched motors to the home turn.
But when Domenic’s Joanne slipped into overdrive she sped clear and went on to score by 1-1/4 lengths from Din’s Choice with Lepatata a neck astern and about a length clear of Makari Girl.
The winner’s mum Painted Shaza was one of her trainer-breeder Mick Stringer’s best performed racing bitches and she is now showing her class as a broodbitch.
Painted Shaza (Puzzle Prize-My Tiger Lily) had 44 starts for 11 wins and 15 minor placings for just over $20,000 in stakes.
