WELL-BRED juvenile See Blue’s Girl confirmed her status as one of the state’s brightest prospects with a brilliant win in the division four final of the J. G. Nelson Cup.
The Patrick Ryan-trained bitch went into the final on the back of a sensational heat win a week earlier when victorious by almost 12 lengths.
See Blue’s Girl (Magic Sprite-See Blue) began well from box one to lead and once she had encountered the first turn she sped clear of Sapphire Quest and Joker Jones that had a bumping duel entering the back stretch.
See Blue’s Girl extended her lead to the home turn and went on to score by over eight lengths from Sapphire Quest with Joker Jones a close-up third ahead of Wynburn Whisper.
It was the bitch’s third win from six starts and her time recorded was 29.81 which only a fraction of a second slower that what she recorded in winning her heat (29.79).
Punters put their faith in See Blue’s Girl sending her around the $1.90 favourite while Sapphire Quest was a big drifter from $5 out to $13 and Joker Jones also drifted from his opening quote of $5 to start at $12.
The well-backed Keune from the Ted Medhurst kennel shortened in from $3.10 to start the second elect at $2.70 but she had no luck and finished a distant last.
Keune began well from box seven but when she was crossing down to the rails half-way to the first turn she got onto the heels of Sapphire Quest and was spat out the back and she never recovered.
