Punters trying their luck on a quadrella at Devonport today might be able to go skinny in the first leg and wider in the last half given the Michael Stringer trained Sentry Duty looks to have a mortgage on the first leg (race 5).

Sentry Duty is a winner of three and been placed eight times from his fifteen Devonport starts and he will start from his favoured inside box (1) today.

He has a best winning time of 25.85 so if he can match that he should have the edge on his rivals.

Today’s top grade event (race 7) looks to be a match between the three that have drawn closest to the rails.

Seagull Boy (1) is racing well and recently stretched Rewind in fast time while Yappin’ Jack (2) is beaten on the track from three outings and has a personal best of 25.50 and Emerald Lee (3) has won three races at Devonport with a personal best time is 25.59.

Punters will be hoping to get a bank early in the day on the Russell Watts-trained Acting Up that ran on well for a close-up second on debut last week behind Oscar Ralph. From box eight, Acting Up (Elite State-Brooklyn Belle) should be able to stay clear of trouble to the top turn and be too strong over the concluding stages.

It is an 11-race meeting which means an early start with first scheduled to start at 12.39.
