SHANLYN POH made it two wins for the week when he powered his way to an impressive victory in the Steeline Roofing Hobart grade five event over 461 metres at Tattersall’s Park last Thursday night.

It was her second win in the space of four days having toyed with his rivals in Launceston three nights earlier.

Last Thursday night the Graeme Moate-trained dog showed good early speed from box four to cross to the rails half-way to the top turn with the reserve Hellyeah Trish in hot pursuit while the favourite Tommy Teeko (3) was being checked out to the rear.

Once balanced for the run home Shanlyn Poh extended his lead and hit the line almost 10 lengths clear of Hellyeah Trish with Stately Vista just under a length away third.

Shanlyn Poh (Big Daddy Cool-Shanlyn Lass) is raced by the Houndog Syndicate in Victoria.

The dog arrived in Moate’s kennels at Goodwood in late December last year and after two failures on the Hobart circuit in early January he was freshened up by the astute trainer.

The little break did wonders and this latest win was Shanlyn Poh’s third in four subsequent outings.

His time last Thursday night was a slick 26.24s with splits of 5.21 and 11.24 but it was his run home that i0mpressed most, suggesting he may be stepped up to longer trips in the future.

It was a good night for Moate’s brigade of Shanlyn dogs with Shanlyn Hirdy scoring another sensational win in a grade four and Shanlyn Charlie provided the kennel with the quinella.

Shanlyn Hirdy (Slater-Shanlyn Supreme) has had only nine starts in Tasmania for six wins including a heat of the Group 2 Launceston Cup.

Shanlyn Hirdy began slowly from box eight and when he made a sharp move nearing the top turn he was checked badly and looked gone.

Bit he picked himself up and darted to the rails and rattled home to win by a length.
