Experienced Longford trainer David Crosswell says the chances of a greyhound making a successful return to racing after having pups is ‘‘about one in 100’’. Which is why Crosswell has nothing but admiration for his brilliant bitch She’s All Class who continued along the comeback trail at Devonport on Tuesday. She’s All Class had a litter of five pups in February _ two male dogs and three bitches by boom sire Magic Sprite. She returned to the track in June and on Tuesday won her second race since the layoff when she led all the way over 452 metres in a quick 25.39 seconds. It took her overall record to 20 wins from 34 starts.
“She’s a machine,’’ Crosswell said.
“And, she’s had to overcome injuries she’s had a toe off and did a sesamoid in her hind leg.
“Those things only ever happen to the good ones.’’
Crosswell will “take it steady’’ with She’s All Class for the time being but, down the track, will probably set her for the Devonport Cup.
“I might even have a look at the Hobart Thousand,’’ he said. The 3-1/2 year old greyhound has a good temperament, according to her owner-trainer, who believes she will make a great brood bitch when she retires permanently.
“She will throw a champion one day,’’ Crosswell confidently predicted.
‘‘But she’s not ready to retire yet _ she’ll let me know when she is.’’
