In Brief
- She's All Class produces 172nd winner on the track.
- David Crosswell proud of former star chasers' achievements.
- Aston Dee Bee litter continuing to improve with each run.
WINS by littermates Highland Fame and Highland Chief in Launceston on Monday night saw their dam, She’s All Class, move further ahead on the leading broodbitches’ list.
Though Highland Fame was most impressive winning a grade six over 515 metres it was Highland Chief who really set the track alight in the grade five event over 278 metres.
By up and coming sire Aston Dee Bee, the David Crosswell-trained October 2018 whelping received a dream rails run from the coveted inside draw to take the lead easily by the time the field approached the first turn, sailing away in the straight to a comfortable victory.
Highland Chief scored by 5 ¼ lengths beating Gee Whiz Archie to run 16.08 seconds.
It was also a significant milestone for broodbitch She’s All Class producing her 172nd winner.
“She’s All Class is probably one of the best broodbitches I’ve ever had,” David Crosswell stated.
“I’ve never had a broodbitch that has continued to produce winners like She’s All Class has done, every pup in the four litters she’s had so far have been winners and this litter to Aston Dee Bee are just getting into their racing careers – she’s definitely rare to me,” the trainer said.
She’s All Class, a daughter of Dyna Lachlan and It’s A She, has whelped four litters to the race track with her fifth and final litter of five pups to another promising sire in Zambora Brockie are just 12 months of age; Crosswell remains in awe of the deeds of his former star chaser.
Sadly, connections lost She’s All Class to a snake bite after she whelped her last litter over in Victoria.
On the race track She’s All Class raced 39 times for 21 victories and 5 minor placings.
The fawn chaser began her career winning a heat and final of the Devonport Maiden Series in 2012, from there She’s All Class recorded a solid list of feature race titles including a Devonport Classic, Tasmanian Oaks, J.G. Nelson Cup and the Tasmanian Sprint Championship.
She’s All Class was crowned Tasmanian Greyhound of the Year for the 2013/14 racing season.
She’s All Class took a backward step in her career when she tragically fell in the Group 1 National Sprint Championship Final at The Meadows, after which her Hall of Fame trainer patiently nursed her back giving her three more starts, she was then off the scene for eight months.
Resuming in mid-2014, She’s All Class raced for 12 more starts and was retired for breeding.
The fourth litter by Aston Dee Bee, bred and whelped by David Booth, have notched up 14 career wins in just 47 race starts, with all seven pups looking to make a name for themselves in early days. Highland Chief recorded his third career win for the Dome Holland Syndicate.
David Crosswell is looking forward to the future ahead for what looks to be a rather exciting litter.
“It’s still early days, though what this litter has done so far indicates there is plenty of room for improvement.
“Highland Fame was better for the run and we quinella the race with Highland Wonder. Highland Chief is great little dog and I’m happy in his efforts going forward,” Crosswell said.
“They are definitely nice pups and I’ve got no doubt there will be more improvement to come.”
