THE field assembled for the WHK Greyhound Classic at Devonport this afternoon (Tuesday) boasts some of the best young sprinters in the state and given the fast times recorded in last week’s heats today’s final is sure to be run at a frantic pace.
The David Crosswell owned and trained She’s All Class reeled off sensational sectional times of 7.78 and 12.48 on her way to stopping the clock at 25.30 to ensure she will be sent out a short priced favourite for today’s final.
Crosswell declared her potentially the best he has trained after she had won her third race but an injury resulting from a race fall set her back but the bitch has come back better than ever, evidenced by her impressive heat win last week.
Two other noted speedsters Cointreau Cap and Matt’s Entity also recorded fast sectionals before stopping the clock at 25.63 and 25.85 respectively.
Although not as fast early, Sing The Song was very strong and recorded the second fastest time of 25.53.
Chicka Scott, a kennel mate of She’s All Class, finished well to record 25.78 in winning her heat.
As in all finals, as indeed most races, the start holds the key but if She’s All Class begins like she did last week the interest will be only in which dogs can fill the minor placings.
The best bet on today’s card should be Neurologist in race six and Kula Girl from the Brendan Pursell kennel looks the goods in race nine.
