QUALITY filly Anelene will be aimed at most of the feature three-year-old races during the upcoming Tasmanian Summer Racing Carnival following her impressive win in the Colours 3YO Handicap over 1400 metres at The TOTE Racing Centre in Launceston last night (Wednesday).

The George Blacker-trained filly settled fourth and handy to leader Bionic Star and that pair settled down to a two-horse war all the way up the home straight but with a pull in the weights Blacker’s filly drew clear of Bionic Star over the concluding stages.

When asked if Anelene would go to either the Tasmanian Guineas or Thousand Guineas (for fillies) Blacker indicated the filly could tackle both.

“The filly is doing everything I had hoped this time in and we will be looking at all of the better three-year-old races but the next step is the Tasmanian Guineas,” Blacker said.

“If she handles that then we can look at the Thousand Guineas or a couple of other options and then ultimately the Tasmanian Oaks because that’s the ace I had in mind when I bought her,” he said.

Bionic Star was gallant in defeat and his connections have not been deterred as far as progressing to the Tasmanian Guineas is concerned.

Crown Consul was a much improved effort and he could be about to recapture the form that won him the Sires Produce Stakes last season.

The Stuart Gandy-trained Gee Gees La Quita finished fourth but she was pushed hard to battle it out for third place.
