TALENTED apprentice Millie “Smiley” Whitehouse-Summers celebrated her first double when she guided Magestic Impulse and Willow The Wisp to victory on her home track at Spreyton on Easter Monday.

Whitehouse-Summers produced gun rides to secure her first double, in particular aboard Magestic Impulse that came from well back to grab victory in the last stride in a class two handicap.

Willow The Wisp is prepared by her master Adam Trinder who has lauded her ability to anyone who would listen from the day she acquired her licence to rise in races.

Her ride aboard Willow The Wisp was exemplary as she was taken on when trying to lead so she eased her charge to take a sit and when the pace quickened courtesy of Mr. McCartney taking off from the 700 metre peg to vie for the lead Whitehouse-Summers didn’t panic and allowed her charge to maintain a constant rhythm.

Willow The Wisp regained the lead in the home straight and the young rider was able to encourage her charge with the persuader over the concluding stages to gain the best result.
