Young greyhound Speed Direct (R2) should break through for his first win and get punter’s off to a flying start at Elwick tonight.

This son of Paddy’s Flame had a chequered passage last week when fifth to Canadian Bay in the Easter Purse final but his first up 3rd was good and with Tiny Tilly and Canadian Bay ineligible this looks the right race to break his Maiden status.

Emilia Jade (R3) for Debbie Cannan scored by 10 lengths on Monday night at Launceston and although this field looks harder, her time of 30.12 will make her very competitive if she can recapture that form.

Latino Princess and Leica Turbo look her main opposition. Shanlyn Poh should continue on his winning way in the first leg of the treble. Looking for his fifth win in a row this son of Big Daddy Cool is racing well and the pink box should suit his racing style.

The speedy Franklin Bluboy and Hobart Thousand finalist Sandbanker look next best.

Best Bets: R2 No 1 Speed Direct, R3 No 4 Emilia Jade, R8 No 4 Bearville Phil.

Best E/W: R5 No 7 Beetle Nut, R9 No 4 Jaguar Pines, R10 No 3 Silver Strand
