FRENCH-BORN jockey Audrey Guilleman has made quite an impact since she started riding regularly in Tasmania but punters were lamenting her presence after the first race at Tattersall’s Park in Hobart today.
Guillemin partnered the Len Watling-trained mare Springfield Jo to a comfortable win in the Glenorchy Community Fund Maiden over 1400 metres but she want around the despised rank outsider at $78.
Springfield Jo was having her third run this preparation but had not been sighted for six weeks since finishing near last in a field of nine on the Hobart circuit in a modest class one handicap over 1100m.
But stepping up to 1400 metres obviously assisted her chances and Guillemin said the lightly raced six-year-old mare won with some authority.
