WELL bred three-year-old filly Arenzano looks set for a bright future after blitzing her rivals in track record time in a Maiden over 1000 metres on her home track at Devonport today (Sunday).
The Barry Campbell-trained filly showed blistering early speed to lead comfortably and with Anthony Darmanin aboard she increased her lead at each turn and went on to score by 15 lengths from Mercyful Fate with Georgie’s Dream almost three lengths astern.
Arenzano (Not A Single Doubt-Marina Miss) debuted in April but ran of on the home yet still finished third.
She trialed on her home track over two weeks ago and clocked a record for the 800m of 47.09sec.
Punters rallied for the filly but so strong was the support she paid money back $1 on both totes but as much as $1.10 was bet on Tattsbet fixed odds.
Campbell said he will target some better quality races for the filly but there also could be a trip interstate.
Arenzano broke star mare Rebel Brides record of 59.47 seconds that she set earlier this year.
