STAR Tasmanian sprinter Topline Doovee’s racing career may be over following a fall in an invitation race in Hobart last week.
Topline Doovee fell and broke her nose and fractured her jaw soon after the start of the Cancer Council Invitation over 461 metres.
The Mick Stringer-trained bitch hit the track hard when she clipped heels 80 metres after the start.
Stringer raced to her side and what he saw was upsetting.
“She was just shaking and it was evident straight away that she had done some serious damage to her mouth region,” Stringer said.
“She’s got a broken jaw and she’s missing quite a few teeth.”
“I’d say she might be retired now because this sort of injury can often take a long time to heal,” she said.
Topline Doovee was coming off a brilliant win in the Mercury Silver Trophy final over 461 metres.
The bitch is owned by Rod Stamford and Nick Mills and they are no strangers to success.
