TALENTED three-year-old sprinter Valiant Warrior will tackle a $80,000 race over 1100 metres up the straight at Flemington on Saturday.
Valiant Warrior was to have his first start this preparation at Launceston last Sunday week but the prospect of a heavy track forced trainer Adam Trinder to abandon the mission.
The three-year-old was always heading to Melbourne for a race or two but Trinder was hoping this season’s 3YO Cup winner had a run under his belt before tackling the Flemington dash.
Valiant Warrior was unbeaten from two starts as a two-year-old and delivered the goods this season by winning the 3YO Vase, 3YO Cup, in which he claimed the scalp of Admiral that is ;likely to be named Tasmania’s top three-year-old and he also won the $50,000 3YO Classic on Launceston Cup day (watch the video).
Trinder sent him around in two trials at Devonport recently and the gelding won both convincingly.
