TWO of Tasmania’s star gallopers Geegees Blackflash and Prevailing will be draw cards at tomorrow’s set of nine trials at Tattersall’s Park in Hobart
Prevailing defeated Geegees Blackflash in this year’s AAMI Launceston Cup after Geegees Blackflash won the AAMI Hobart Cup.
The two stayers are expected to be archrivals again in this season’s two major cups but they are likely to take different paths to the state’s two most valuable races.
Geegees Blackflash will be warming up for the $90,000 Newmarket handicap over 1200m, a race he won last year at his first run back from a spell.
However, Prevailing is likely to have his first start back in the $30,000 weight-for-age Conquering Stakes over 1400 metres under lights in Launceston on December 05.
David and Scott Brunton who train Prevailing also are looking at the Newmarket as the gelding’s first-up assignment but last week David Brunton said he was leaning towards the weight-for-age event over 1400m.
Geegees Blackflash will appear in trial six tomorrow while Prevailing will go around in trial seven. Both trials are to be run over 900 metres.
Tasracing also will be making a special announcement concerning the two major cups at the conclusion of the nine trials.
